- Alfredos Pizza - Kiti The small pizza will feed 4 adults, the medium will feed 4 adults for 2 days and the large will feed a small army ! If Carlsberg made pizza they would probably make them like this! The small is 10.50 euros and worth every cent. Tel no to follow, normally a 15 minute wait. Four minute drive.
- Shanghai Chinese Restaurant - Kiti 24 42 66 00 not the cheapest but very good value and very smart. Eat in or take away. Most common mistake ordering too much, very large portions. Five minute drive
- Taverna - Tersefanou Square 99 57 22 69 great value, not expensive and Andreas (owner) is very welcoming, ideal for meals or just drinks. Walking distance – approx 8 - 10 minutes
- Soutsos Sun Rise Tavern – Pervolia Square 24 42 48 32 traditional Cypriot dishes, very reasonably priced, large portions and friendly, lively atmosphere. This restaurant gets very busy in the evenings so would suggest booking in advance especially on a Saturday night when they have entertainment. There is entertainment most evenings in the summer. Ten minute drive.
- Psilo Dendro Trout Farm & Restaurant – Platres in the Troodos Mountains 25 42 13 50. A stunning location and the drive up is breath takingly beautiful (Use a 4x4 vehicle in Jan & Feb if there is snow, and there usually is). Platres is somewhere straight out of an Austrian ski resort and is popular with tourists from the UK and Cypriots alike. It is a popular ski resort in the winter. The trout is fresh and very tasty and there is also a variety of other dishes on offer. Perfect for lunch ! 1 hour 50 minute drive but allow for some sight seeing en-route.
Do beware... I believe they close about 5.00pm. email : abroom@cytanet.com.cy
- Petit Palais Hotel – Platres in the Troodos Mountains 25 42 27 23, or 25 42 17 23
Get a room for an overnight stay in the mountains, ask for the top floor looking out towards the sea, it is stunning ! The food is excellent including the breakfast for those who stay over. The restaurant is open to non residents. www.petitpalaishotel.com 1 hour 50 minute drive but allow for some sight seeing en-route.
- Omodos Village – Troodos Mountains . Very popular traditional Cypriot village well known for wine making with the centre piece being the beautiful old church (remember to dress appropriately if going in the church). This village has some great little craft shops tucked away in the narrow cobbled streets that wind around the village and lots of alfresco lunching and drinking in the main street, definitely worth a visit on your way up to or down from Platres !
- Pervolia Taxi 99 63 07 56, or 24 42 25 41. Based locally with a 7 seater. Normally 15 euros to Larnaca seafront and 10 euro to Pervolia.
- Karting Centre - Dromolaxia 70 00 76 77. Big track with fast straights and corners, open from 9.00am – 12.00pm (midnight) 7 days a week, would suggest night time in the warmer months as it gets very hot on the track and you have to wear a helmet. The track is floodlit and you can choose from 3 different engine sizes. There is also a course for younger children or 2 seater karts on the big track, excellent fun. 30 minutes costs 28 euro and you do two sessions of 15 minutes, each time I've been they've given us another 5 minutes free. Bar & Restaurant facility. www.kartingcenter.com.cy . 15 minute drive.
- Dreamlands Family Fun Park – Tersefanou 24 81 62 21 For just 6.50 euros for the whole day this is good value for the kids with lots of bouncy castles, ball pools, leisure pool with poolside bar and lots more besides both indoor and outdoor. This place is floodlit at night if you want to visit when it's cooler. There is also table tennis and pool table.
www.dreamland-cyprus.com .....5 minute walk
- Waterworld – Ayia Napa 23 72 44 44. The famous waterpark, but don't forget the sun cream. They have erected sun shelters to queue under which is a big help, allow a good few hours and look for the money off vouchers which appear in most of the tourism literature and giveaway maps. www.waterworldwaterpark.com . 45 minute drive.
- Triton Dive – Protaras 99 38 81 16. We dive with Alistair whenever we can and that's quite a bit. We have always had a great dive in a relaxed but safe manner. We have recommended him to many of our guests and I am still to hear anything less than brilliant about him. If you wish to dive with a more local company there are many to choose from, just pop down to the McKenzie Beach road on the way into Larnaca or go to the marina in Larnaca. www.tritondive.co.uk Triton Dive is a 50 minute drive away. We try to combine it with a day at Waterworld or Nissi Beach .
- Nissi Beach – Ayia Napa. Beautiful white sand and warm clear water, gets busy and popular with teenagers. 45 minute drive
- Larnaca Promenade (Phinnikoudis) – Palm lined beach a mile long with the marina at one end and the old fort at the other joined together by sandy beach on one side of the block paved road and tavernas and restaurants on the other. Very safe for swimming and very popular for people watching ! The biggest most cosmopolitan choice of restaurants and tavernas I know of on the Island which is lazy by day and lively by night but always very friendly. 15 minute drive
- McKenzie Beach – right next to the airport on the Larnaca side, this beach is very popular and the kids love to watch and wave to the airplanes coming in to land. They don't fly over the beach but come in across the sea and you can walk a long way out as it stays very shallow. The beach is safe as there is no road too near and it is lined with tavernas. The clear shallow water is very warm most of the year and there are no rocks to catch your toes on ! 10 minute drive.
